# Changelog

> Changes to the Paperjoy API, integrations, and this documentation.

## 2026-10-19

* **Draft postcards.** Send `"draft": true` to `POST /api/postcards` to save a free draft. Edit it with `PATCH /api/postcards/{id}`, order it with `POST /api/postcards/{id}/submit`, or remove it with `DELETE /api/postcards/{id}`. The credit is used at submit. Postcards have a new `submitted_at` field, and `GET /api/postcards` accepts `status`. You can keep up to 100 open drafts, and drafts unchanged for 30 days are deleted. Without `draft`, nothing changes. See [Drafts](https://docs.paperjoy.co/en/postcards/drafts.md).
* **MCP server 1.2.0.** `create-postcard-tool` now saves a draft by default. New tools: `update-draft-tool`, `preview-postcard-tool`, `submit-postcard-tool`, and `delete-draft-tool`. Sending needs the new `mcp:submit` permission; reconnect to grant it. See [MCP server](https://docs.paperjoy.co/en/integrations/mcp.md).
* **One production status.** The robot now writes the envelope and the card in one run, so a single `in_progress` status replaces `envelope_in_progress`, `envelope_completed`, and `card_in_progress`. Postcards that had one of these statuses now show `in_progress`. Treat any status you don't recognize as "in production". See [Postcard statuses](https://docs.paperjoy.co/en/postcards/statuses.md).

* **Paginated postcard list.** `GET /api/postcards` returns 50 postcards per page, newest first. Use `page` and `per_page` (up to 100), and follow `links.next`. See [Track postcards](https://docs.paperjoy.co/en/postcards/list-and-retrieve.md).
* **Safe MCP retries.** `create-postcard-tool` accepts an optional `idempotency_key`, so a retried call doesn't create a second postcard.
